Kafunta River Lodge is set in riverside forest on the banks of the Luangwa River, overlooking the South Luangwa National Park. Guests at Kafunta River Lodge have the chance to visit the local community to find out more about their way of life and culture. Guests can visit the villages and market or  spend an evening in the village and take part in mouthwatering meals and traditional dancing

Night drives accompnied by qualified guides give guests the unique opportunity to see the great variety of nocturnal animals and the Lions and Leopards in their time of ease.  The walking Safaris are a great opportunity to be at one with nature. Qualified, Safari guides and armed National Park rangers escort guest safely into the true wild African Bush. The Luangwa Valley is one of the few places in Africa where it is possible to walk amongst wildlife in true wilderness. During the walking safaris guides explain the little details of the bush, spoor, vegetation and the ecology… an unmatched wildlife experience

South Luangwa National park has over 420 of Zambia's 732 species of birds. There are 39 types of birds of prey and 47 migrant species, so whatever the season, the Luangwa is always a good bird watching destination. The Kafunta River Lodge guides have been catering for international birding for many years. The green season from November to May is the best time for bird watching with the arrival of the migrant birds.
